​Technical Exchange Visit –  Beijing, Guangzhou September 2017[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1559676100374{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Technical exchange visits were undertaken in September 2017 to China to discuss priority trade issues identified in the Seafood Trade Action Agenda – SO2 in canned Abalone, and the approved Australian Species List for Export into China. The delegation had a meetings in Beijing and Guangzhou. The following meetings were undertaken – The New Century Youth Food and Beverage Management Company, China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA), China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Association (CAPPMA), Australian Department of Agriculture, Beijing Office, The China Cuisine Association, the International Import & Export Food Policy, Laws and Regulations Summit – Guangzhou, and the 3rd China International Food, Meat and Aquatic Products Exhibition.[/vc_column_text][mk_custom_list style=”mk-moon-checkmark-3″]

​Technical Exchange Visit – Shanghai, Beijing May 2017[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1559676598677{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Technical exchange visits were undertaken in May 2017 to China to discuss priority trade issues identified in the Seafood Trade Action Agenda – SO2 in canned Abalone. The delegation had a meetings in Shanghai with Professor Dai and Professor Shen from Zhejiang Gongshang University. Professor Dai is Dean of Institute of Seafood at Zhejiang Gongshang University. Technical Exchange Visit – Japan 9-19 May 2017[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1559676768190{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]​Roei Abalone exported to Japan – Roei Abalone is a small wild Abalone generally only caught in Western Australia.  There is a niche but lucrative market in Japan that has been developed however there is an issue with how the product should be labeled which results in a lower value being placed on the product.  The STAG has been working with the Department and Austrade Tokyo to try to resolve the issue and a potential resolution has been found.  The second exchange involved a visit to Japan with a fish names expert and an industry technical adviser meeting with the relevant scientific institutions in Tokyo to agree on the correct scientific name and labelling for this product.[/vc_column_text][mk_custom_list style=”mk-moon-checkmark-3″]

Technical Exchange Visit – China – December 2016[/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1559676912016{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]To promote technical exchange between Australian and Chinese scientists in the area of food safety and market access for seafood.  Professor Zhai and Dr. Tan were given a better understanding of the Australian Shellfish Quality Assurance Program and how it is implemented, and made many contacts with researchers in Australia. Discussions will continue with SARDI on taking research collaboration further in the fields of marine biotoxins, food authenticity and seafood utilisation.[/vc_column_text][mk_custom_list style=”mk-moon-checkmark-3″]
